A native of Suffolk, Virginia Edward A. Ricks is a graduate of John F. Kennedy High School. He received the B.S. in Public School Music as well as M.M. with Emphasis in Education from Norfolk State University. He has taught in the public school systems of Virginia Beach, Hampton and Portsmouth, Virginia.

     Mr. Ricks served as Assistant Director of University Bands and Instructor & Assistant Professor of Music at Norfolk State, Delaware State, South Carolina State and Savannah State Universities, as well as Hampton University. Mr. Ricks also served at South Carolina State University as Interim Director of Bands. Mr. Ricks comes to us from Hampton City Public Schools where he served as Director of Bands at Phoebus High School.

     Mr. Ricks has also served as a clinician and/or adjudicator for various public schools, colleges & universities in Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Wisconsin, North Carolina, Georgia and Washington D.C.

     His professional memberships include the College Band Directors National Association, National Association for Music Education and the Percussive Arts Society.
